About Us

Begun in January 2006, ACE Atlanta introduces students to the many rewarding career options open to them in the architectural, engineering and construction fields. Students meet weekly from January through April under the guidance of practicing architects, engineers and construction managers. They also take field trips to area firms, go on guided tours of major construction sites, such as the new World of Coke museum, and visit the Career Expo run by the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia.

Our Team Projects

In ACE Atlanta’s first year, students from R.L. Osborne High School selected a location for a hypothetical shopping mall, researched the mix of stores it should contain, designed the structure and wrote its construction “request for proposal.”

In 2007, weekly events and exercises gave students at Booker T. Washington High School an in-depth look at career opportunities across the industry. For example, students played the roles of both architect and building owner in reviewing actual plans for the historic renovation of their school.

Subsequent sessions introduced them to basic drafting concepts, the roles of mechanical, electrical and civil engineers, green building techniques and other topics. For a program graduation party, each student selected a profession in the building industry and delivered a presentation describing its career path.
