As an active player in ACE’s Baltimore affiliate since 2006, Adam Snavely knows first hand how rewarding it can be to get young people excited about careers in the building industry. During his tenure, Snavely, who is president and CEO at EMCOR Group's Poole and Kent Corporation, has played a key role in attracting both new schools and new mentors to the program.

Thanks to his efforts, for example, Mount Saint Joseph High School recently joined the program, with New Town High School scheduled to come on board in the spring.

But Adam doesn’t just reach out. He works within his own company as well, where he regularly encourages other EMCOR executives to increase their involvement in ACE’s programs around the country. And within The Poole and Kent Corporation, he creates internships that provide both practical experience and financial assistance for outstanding program participants.

To Adam, when it comes to mentoring, patience is a virtue. “Mentors need to be in this for the long haul,” he says. “We have to guide these young people through their high school and college years, before the industry can benefit from their enthusiasm, leadership and creativity.”
