About Us

In 2003, a group of local architects, engineers and general contractors founded ACE Mentor San Diego. We are excited to begin our fourteenth year in the program which has graduated and funded hundreds of high school students to pursue their degrees and enter the local workforce. The ACE Mentor program gives high school students an inside look at the wealth of career opportunities available to them in the building and design industries.

In our first year, volunteer mentors from many industry and university partners recruited and guided three teams of students. In our fourteenth year, mentors from more than 60 companies are working with twelve student teams. In addition, the NewSchool of Architecture and Design has made a significant commitment to ACE by offering full scholarships on a competitive basis for their five-year undergraduate Architecture and Construction Management programs.

For our 2015-2016 school year we had:

12 Schools
204 Students (263 started, 204 finished)
128 Mentors
20 Board Members
85 Sponsoring Organizations
$100,000 in Scholarships awarded

Our Students and Projects

Under the expert tutelage of ACE mentors, San Diego students have undertaken a variety of planning and design projects. These have ranged from parks and lakeside resorts to school activities buildings and regional airport expansions.

During the 2016-2017 school year, students are using a typical request-for-proposal project to explore the tools, technologies and skills routinely employed by professional architects, engineers and construction managers. We will complete the program year by awarding scholarships to promising students choosing to pursue an academic course of study leading to a career in the building industry.

In the first thirteen years of our program, we’ve presented scholarships with a total value of over 1.4 million dollars. Through generous local, state and national firm donations, we hope you will help us exceed our goal of $220,000 in this fourteenth year of our program.

Thank You!

We'd like to recognize and thank our 2016 sponsors who are listed at this link.
