As part of the senior leadership team, Rich oversees the day-to-day management of Stantec’s operations, practice, and corporate support groups and works closely with the Company’s acquisitions team.
Rich came to Stantec in 2006 with the acquisition of Dufresne-Henry Inc., where he served as president and CEO. Prior to his appointment as Stantec’s COO in 2010, Rich was a senior vice president and US East regional operating unit leader, where he managed and led this rapidly growing region.
Rich graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science in civil engineering in 1976, and, four years later, earned a master of science in the same field from the University of Washington after graduate research at McGill University.
After nine years of engineering practice in the environmental infrastructure field, his focus turned to law when he received his Juris Doctor from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1985. He practiced law for 17 years with Gadsby Hannah, LLP in Boston, serving as an associate, partner, and leader of the firm's design and construction law practice group.
A noted author and speaker, Rich is a registered professional civil engineer and attorney active in numerous professional engineering and legal associations.
