Students in the ACE program work directly with local industry professionals from leading area firms who volunteer their time as mentors. The ACE student teams participate in hands-on experiences solving the types of design, engineering and construction challenges industry professionals confront every day. The teams often learn how to use advanced computerized tools, such as AutoCAD, Sketchup and VR Technology, while fun activities illustrate the industry's demand for young people skilled in math, physics, economics, communications, art and other disciplines. They also have the opportunity to tour construction sites as well as visit local architectural, engineering and construction offices. For students, it is a unique chance to discover and develop new skills, solidify future goals and get on track to exciting, rewarding careers. In addition, many students form positive relationships with industry professionals who can provide important references for obtaining college admissions, scholarships, internships and full-time employment. The program has limited student spaces available currently, but we are continuing to expand across the Upstate, to provide more opportunities for high school students interested in a career in architecture, engineering and construction.
If you’d like to experience ACE’s challenges, opportunities and rewards for yourself, please contact one of our Board Members. We are looking for mentors currently working in the Architecture, Construction, Engineering industry, as well as interested sponsors. For high school administrators looking to add your high school to the program, please contact an one of our board members for more information.
