2016 ENR-ACE Outstanding Mentors

A jury composed of last year's Outstanding Mentors selected six 2016 ENR-ACE Outstanding Mentors:

Lianne Bell, San Diego Vanessa Shumate, Indiana
Maria Bumgarner, Twin Cities Michael Tecci, Boston
Crystal Markley, Northeast Florida Jeremy Voss, Central Florida

They will receive the award at a ceremony in Washington, DC, on April 25.  ACE thanks Engineering News-Record and its parent company BNP Media for supporting this program.
National Design Competition Finals

For the 10th anniversary of the CIRT-ACE National Design Competition, nine teams from eight affiliates will present their projects to a jury of design and construction industry senior executives on April 25 in Washington, DC.  After a semi-final round, three teams will compete in the finals for the top three prizes. The following affiliates are sending teams – Central Iowa, Connecticut (New Haven chapter), Eastern Pennsylvania (2 teams), Frederick, Houston, New York City, Northeast Florida, and San Francisco Bay Area.

Chicago Scores Important Grant

The Chicago affiliate successfully competed for a $20,000 grant from the technology firm Cognizant as part of its Making the Future program.  Out of 250 applicants across the country, Cognizant funded only 40 organizations.  The Making the Future initiative supports engaging, hands-on programs that will inspire young learners in STEM and the arts disciplines.  Chicago will apply the grant toward its Summer Design-Build Program.
