ACE Celebrates 25 Years
The countdown has begun to ACE’s Silver Anniversary celebrations, May 14-16, at the Gaylord National Resort, National Harbor, MD, just outside Washington, DC. Several hundred top industry CEO’s, affiliate leaders and mentors, and outstanding students will join the festivities.
The centerpiece of the celebration will be the 25th Anniversary Reception and Dinner on May 14.
  NBC News White House correspondent Geoff Bennett will be the emcee.

On the afternoon before the dinner, three finalist teams in the CIRT National Design and Construction Competition will vie for the $5,000 first-place prize.

ACE’s fifth All Affiliates Conference follows the dinner on May 15-16.  Affiliate leaders and mentors will share their innovative approaches and best practices.

$400K in Scholarships Awarded to 25 Students
Twenty-five students from 19 states have earned a CMiC-Allen Berg Memorial Scholarship.  Nominated by 44 affiliates, applicants underwent a two-stage review process based on merit and financial need.  Individual scholarships are worth between $10K and $40K.  
This fall the majority of scholarship winners (13) will enter college in accredited engineering majors related to the design and construction industry.  Another 11 students will pursue architecture, urban planning, and interior design majors, and one student plans a career in computer science as relates to construction.

CIRT National Design and Construction Competition Finalists  Announced
Three teams from the Central Iowa, Hawaii, and Greater New York affiliates will compete on May 14 for the $5,000 top prize.  Teams from 26 affiliates submitted a record 64 entries.  Central Iowa holds the distinction of being selected a finalist in two consecutive years.   Details about these teams and first and second runners-up in the three design challenges can be read here.

ACE Welcomes New Staff

Tzu Chen, a practicing architect and active mentor and board member with the ACE Raleigh/Durham affiliate, has joined the national staff as the new Southeast Regional Director.  He replaces long-time Regional Director Jack Tipton who is retiring from full-time work with ACE but will remain engaged on a part-time consulting basis as Director of Partnerships.
Stephanie Davi has rejoined the ACE team in the new position of Director of Development and Operations.  Before moving to Louisiana in 2013, she was ACE’s first regional director, overseeing the West region.  In recent years, Stephanie led the development efforts of a higher education association and a prominent private school in New Orleans.
