Scholarships, new activity module, and more!
National Architecture, Engineering, Construction Scholarships
Many national organizations and firms have scholarship programs supporting architecture, engineering, and construction students.  For the benefit of our students and alumni, ACE has compiled a list of 20 industry associations and companies that collectively provide several hundred scholarships each worth between $1K and $15K. Local chapters of industry associations in this list also offer financial support.  ACE alumni and students have previously won several of these scholarships.

New Tool for Recruiting Sponsors
ACE has created a one-page document making the case why sponsors should support affiliates and the national organization with donations and mentors.  The Top Ten Reasons to Sponsor ACE incorporates the latest statistics and other information.

Brick by Brick – New Activity Module
Procore has created and produced for ACE and schools an innovative construction management game.
Brick by Brick gives students a real-world appreciation of construction management fundamentals, including hands-on use of Procore’s construction management software. The game comes in a well-designed package of game
instructions, toy building blocks, and other necessary materials. To play the game, ACE teams will need a mobile device (cell phone or tablet) as well as a laptop with Internet access.
Thanks to Procore’s generosity, Brick by Brick is available to affiliates and mentor team leaders without charge, first-come, first-serve.

STEM Premier
STEM Premier is a digital platform where ACE students and alumni can showcase their talents, design attractive digital profiles, and get matched to scholarships through a database reflecting several billion dollars of financial aid.  Universities and companies can view profiles of students and get in touch with them
ACE’s partnership with STEM Premier has deepened so that now all affiliates can take full advantage of STEM Premier’s benefits without charge.  Affiliates, students, and alumni will soon receive more details about STEM Premier.
Chicago Shines
ACE Chicago recently enjoyed two notable achievements.  First, the AIA Chicago chapter bestowed its 2017 Distinguished Service Award on the affiliate.
Second, six affiliate students ranked among the top ten winners, including first and third places, in the BP Design Competition. Chicago Public School students were challenged to design a pocket park for the city.  The on-line competition, which was part of the Chicago Architecture Biennial, was run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
Honor Thy Founders
In December three affiliates organized events honoring their founders.  At a beach-side reception as part of its 15th-anniversary celebrations, the Los Angeles affiliate toasted Terry Dooley and created a scholarship in his name.  He now serves as board chairman emeritus.  Also in California, the Inland Empire affiliate bade farewell to Bob Tener, who established it in 2012 and will soon retire in Arkansas.  The Cleveland affiliate held a reception celebrating its founder Tom Laird, who chaired its board for the first nine years.  An annual $5K scholarship in Tom’s name was announced.
