Partnership with STEM Premier Aids ACE Students and Alumni

ACE’s recent partnership with STEM Premier, an on-line platform helping students connect to colleges and employers and alerting them to scholarship opportunities, offers ACE students and alumni many new advantages. Without charge, they can create an attractive digital portfolio showcasing their achievements, skills, and experiences that can be shared with colleges and potential employers. They will also learn about an array of scholarships relevant to their particular career interests and qualifications.

Further details about this partnership will be sent to affiliates later in July and will also be posted on the ACE website, together with a video from a recent webinar about STEM Premier. All ACE students will also receive a special email announcement.

August 3 Webinar on ACE and the Trades

An hour-long webinar on Wednesday, August 3, (12pm PDT, 3pm EDT) will feature presentations by leaders from the Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, and Central Pennsylvania affiliates explaining their strategies for introducing ACE students to the trade crafts. Joan Calambokidis, President of the International Masonry Institute and member of ACE’s Executive Committee, will introduce the program and offer tips on engaging trade organizations to participate in ACE.

Look for log-in details that will be emailed to affiliate leaders. A video recording of the webinar will be posted on the ACE website.

Survey of Recent ACE Alumni Reinforces Value ACE Delivers to Students

In June the ACE national office surveyed almost 4,800 ACE alumni from the classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015. According to the more than 1,200 respondents,

  • 90% believe their ACE experience has given them an edge over their peers in college.
  • 79% report in the past year they have used the life and work skills gained in ACE “a lot” or “some.”
  • 66% say they have used the technical skills and knowledge learned in ACE “a lot” or “some” in the past year.
Complete national survey results, as well as those specific to individual affiliates, will be disseminated in late July.

2015-16 Affiliate Program Report Update

Affiliates will shortly receive a survey collecting information about their activities in the past year. Results will be analyzed and reported to the ACE Executive Committee and Board of Directors early this fall. Affiliates will also receive a copy of the report.

More Mentors Earn Awards

Congratulations to Jeff Yirak, Seattle affiliate mentor since 2010, and Toby White, who actively mentors with the Boston affiliate, whom Consulting-Specifying Engineer named to its 2016 40 Under 40 list. Their professional accomplishments and community service commitment to ACE and other organizations were the basis of this recognition.

ACE Ad Blitz in ENR

Thanks to the generosity of ACE national sponsor BNP Media, publisher of Engineering News-Record, ACE’s visibility has been raised this summer with full-page ads in all the ENR regional print editions as well as the national magazine. In addition, banner ads have appeared in ENR’s e-newsletters, digital editions of the magazine, and on ENR’s national and regional webpages.
