Dan Johnson
President
M.A. Mortenson Company

Dan joined Mortenson in 1986 and serves as the company’s president and chief executive officer. He is responsible for executive management, strategic business planning, succession planning, resource management, and overall business leadership. Through the years, Dan has served many roles for the company including estimating, operations, business development and senior leadership. He was promoted to vice president in 1996, senior vice president in 1999, chief operating officer in 2008 and president in 2015. Dan has been involved with many of the company’s new businesses including offices in Milwaukee, Chicago, Phoenix and Portland. He was also instrumental in launching the Renewable Energy business and growing the Development Group. Dan’s leadership is reflective of Mortenson’s values: Trust, Responsibility, Safety, Teamwork, Service, and Stewardship. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering from North Dakota State University.

Dan is active on several Boards including Fastenal, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the ACE Mentor Program. He is a member of the Construction Industry Roundtable (CIRT), the Construction Industry Ethics and Compliance Initiative (CIECI) and North Dakota State University Construction Engineering Department Advisory Council. Dan is a former board member of the Lean Construction Institute and Hazeltine National Golf Club. He served on the Hazeltine Executive Committee for the 2009 PGA Championship and the 2016 Ryder Cup.
