Bio
Fernando Rodriguez
Vice President, Construction Support Services, AvalonBay Communities
ACE Mentor Program of the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, Inc. (ACE DC)
For nine years, Fernando has been an invaluable mentor of the ACE DC, serving as a leader
and role model. What makes him special, according to his peers and those he mentors, is his personalized approach to mentoring, recognizing each student’s strengths, challenges, and aspirations.
He has pioneered creative challenges that reflect real-world scenarios. One example is ACE DC’s annual gingerbread design and build challenge, where he developed a whole curriculum focused that included plans, sketches, cost estimates and models.
Additionally, Fernando actively contributes to the Mentor Support Committee, helping organize and lead ACE DC’s annual Mentor Kickoff events. He takes an active role in mentor training and development, offering support and guidance to new mentors, thereby improving the overall experience for both mentors and students. As a result, several of those he’s mentored have gone on to lead their own teams.
The affiliate director points to his “tireless dedication, innovative approach to mentoring, and profound impact on students and fellow mentors that has transformed lives, strengthened the affiliate, and contributed significantly to the ACE Mentor Program’s mission.”
