ACE Mentor Los Angeles/Orange County

For the last eight years, Tim has been a mentor and team leader at Venice High School in Los Angeles. Among Tim’s most valuable and impactful contributions is his work developing the affiliate’s Spring Design Project. He pulls together the RFP, site maps, fly-through video, etc., and sees all team projects through to our end of year presentation. From designing a community on the moon to a gaming university, his concepts fully engage, excite and spark the imagination of his students.

This year, Tim formed a partnership between the affiliate and the Liberty Community Land Trust. Student’s had the opportunity to redesign the trust’s Leimert Park development and then participate in an inaugural trades camp where students contribute to the park rebuild.

Tim is an invaluable member of the ACE LA/OC Board of Directors, directly involved in mentor recruitment and the Alumni Committee, ensuring that the mentor/mentee relationship continues long after graduation.

A four-year ACE alum Jachin Chyn says, “I had the privilege of being under Tim’s mentorship. Now, as a civil engineering student at UCLA, I am still being mentored by Tim in new ways with regard to ACE.”
