Wyman Lester
Instructor, Technology Education, McKinley Technology High School
Washington, D.C.
ACE Mentor Program of the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, Inc. (ACE DC)

Wyman is an integral part of the overall success of the ACE Program in the Prince George’s County Public School district over the last 8+ years, where he engaged over 100 students. As an instructor in the Technology Education department at the Charles Herbert Flowers High School teaching architectural and engineering drafting, he actively recruited students each year from his drafting classes as well as from the general student population to join the ACE program. His commitment was especially essential during the pandemic, supporting effective virtual programming, participating in the meetings, asks questions, makes comments, and nudges the students when needed. Further, he has helped the ACE DC affiliate extend its reach in Prince George’s County Public Schools. For instance, he invited the affiliate leaders and mentors to attend a Project Lead the Way meeting with fellow teachers. As a result of that meeting, several schools reached out to set up ACE programs. Wyman recently moved to the District of Columbia Public Schools where he is once again advocating for ACE.
