Joey Bahnsen is a Project Architect with RTA Architects in Colorado Springs, CO where he practices healthcare architecture. Joey has a diverse background of professional experience including time as a Construction Management Project Engineer in Texas along with experience in healthcare, multi-family, civic, and commercial architecture since 2017 across the Midwest and Mountain Region.

Joey is a native of Des Moines, IA, and an alum of the Central Iowa ACE affiliate where he participated in ACE Mentor Program all four years of high school. The pivotal moment of Joey’s ACE experience in high school was presenting at the CIRT National Design Competition in Washington D.C. where the Central Iowa ACE affiliate took home the 1st Place award. Joey attended Iowa State University where he received his Bachelor of Architecture in 2018. While at Iowa State University, Joey would assist as a guest reviewer for the Central Iowa ACE affiliate and presented to industry professionals in Omaha to help recruit for the newly formed ACE Omaha affiliate. Upon moving to Colorado in 2018, Joey immediately got involved as a mentor in Denver. Joey has been a lead mentor since 2019, was recognized as the 2021 Colorado Mentor of the Year and founded the Colorado Springs location for the ACE Mentor Program of Colorado in 2021-2022. Joey also serves on the inaugural Associate Board for the ACE Mentor Program of Colorado.
